As in most professional fields, continued education is a must to keep up with the changing times. The business of gem identification and jewelry appraisals is no different. Richard Petrovic, owner/gemologist of FACETS Gem & Mineral Gallery has just successfully completed the 2004 Gems & Gemology Challenge. A yearly exam for acquiring the necessary knowledge to maintain a higher level of expertise in the jewelry industry. Each year, the Gemological Institute of America, an authority on diamonds and colored stones, offers an exam to review and inform jeweler/gemologist of new discoveries and changes within the industry. This is just a part of Petrovic's dedication to continuing education. He was commended for his commitment and effort to increase his ability to serve the jewelry-buying public, ethically and professionally.
Earlier this year FACETS Gem & Mineral Gallery was just one of six Newport specialty shops that made the cut of only 60 shops to be selected by teams of secret shoppers looking for outstanding customer service and uniqueness of merchandise beyond the ordinary.
These shoppers shopped from Astoria to Brookings to introduce their readers to the best accommodations/RV resorts, attractions, specialty shops, galleries, coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants and more… The book features the above categories that are arranged by three sections of the coast: north, central and south coast.
